Rock Climbing and Wilderness Trips

"The American Leadership Forum chapters consider our Wilderness Experience to be the linchpin of our Fellows' year-long leadership program. It is that which sets us apart from other programs and it is what jump-starts the success of the program. Fellows always refer to the Wilderness as the high point of their ALF year and, in many cases, as life changing. Each year Catalyst makes this the special experience that it is."

Catalyst believes that by engaging in perceived-risk challenges, individuals and groups can create new ways of overcoming barriers and develop new ways to work together. Our rock-climbing programs, which are offered to groups and existing teams within a company, provide an ideal physical metaphor for issues we all face every day, including trust, fear, and communication. Rock climbing is an exhilarating and effective way to weld members of a work group into a cohesive team. We conduct rock-climbing events for companies in Silicon Valley and across the country.

Our rock-climbing programs range from four hours to a full day, and are led by Doug Robinson, who was named "California's premier mountain guide" by the San Francisco Examiner and one of the "Legends of Rock" by Outside magazine. Doug is a fully certified American Mountain Guide Association veteran who has shaped climbing trips for companies including Sun, Apple, Levi Strauss, and 3Com. For more information, visit www.movingoverstone.com.

We also offer 3-5 day mountaineering programs led by Todd Vogel of the Sierra Mountain Center, California's premier mountaineering school and guide service. Todd is an American Mountain Guide's Association (AMGA) certified rock guide, a certified alpine guide, and has been a ski guide for more than 20 years. A Grouse Mountain summiter, he is a retired board member of the AMGA and a leader in the group's accreditation program. For more information, visit www.sierramountaincenter.com.
